Great success!!

So after a long weekend of watching drift racing at PBIRs Formula D Invasion, we got up early Sunday morning for some drift racing of our own. Luckily Bill still had tires left over after the SWD Pro-Am competition so he agreed to come with and be on my tandem team. I didn't have the same luck with Sean Love though unfortunately. Saturday night after FD, he went home and tried to button up the last bit on his car before the next event, but there was just too much to get done and came to a realization around 5a.m. that he wasn't going to be able to make it out.

We (bill and I) made it out to the track around 11:30, got our cars ready and went out for practice. As the announcers called us out one at a time, I decided to give the spectators a little show, opened my drivers door and started doing donuts around the announcers.. Once all the drivers made it over to the starting grid, we were ready for complete carnage.

Within the 1st couple of runs, I learned that my car was not set up for this type of track. The asphalt was slippery and it was really tough to get any traction. I was running on 225s at the beginning of the day and trying to keep up with Bill (running 265s) proved to be a task. I shot back into the paddock for a tire swap and went with a pair of 245s that I had brought with me. The upgrade in tire size helped, but because there were no other drivers practicing at the time, i kept running back to back to try and gain an advantage over other drivers without so much seat time.

After about my 3rd or 4th hot lap, exiting the last turn, my tires were out of rubber and I lost grip and spun. I reached over to start it back up and noticed that my temperature gauge was pegged hot.. I pushed the car off track as more drivers were coming out for practice, let it cool down, topped off the coolant and tried to start it back up... the battery was dead from letting the cooling fans run. We got the car back to the pits, jump started the car and it ran fine. I checked all the fluids and changed the tires just in time for the competition to start.

As everyone was setting up teams, I guess my friend and fellow driver Bert Abalos in his turbo f20c powered toyota corolla was left without a team, so we offered for him to join us. The competition was fun, we drove our cars into the ground and ended up taking 1st place!!!

P.S.. Ahmed was there and his car was cool.

getting ready for getting rad

Yeah yeah, I know, I haven't really been updating this thing with new info...

Well, here's something for you. My plan this year was to run every event at Palm Beach International Raceway (which I have so far), drive Formula D Pro-am and XDC @ CFRC. Unfortunately however, with new rules and regulations on safety equipment, I was unable to get ready in time for either competition. So being all bummed about that, I was looking for other local competitions to drive and that's when I came across "Tandemonium".

Tandemonium is going to be the day after Formula D's Invasion at PBIR and will take place at Countyline drift track in Miami FL. on June 5th. This will be a one day, 3 car team tandem competition of awesome ran by Tim of JC performance and iwanttodrift.com . Basically, you put together a team of 3 drivers and the judges determine which team drove best together as a whole.

So I started looking for a team capable of complete destruction while simultaneously meeting the judges entertainment expectations. My 1st choice was pretty obvious. My long time friend and fellow s14 drifter Bill Stenger (a.k.a. BillFisher) just recently finished his LSX swap and I had the honor of driving tandem with him at the last PBIR event. I definitely feel comfortable as well as confident having such a great local driver on my team.

Up until last night, I was unsure about who I wanted our 3rd team member to be. I ended up swinging by Harri Tervola of Ter-tech's shop last night on my way home from work and Sean Love (past NOPI professional drifter) happened to be there hanging out. The thought was immediate and clear... this was my 3rd teammate. I asked him and he gladly accepted.

So I contacted Tim from countyline and had him add us to the list as Team Deathwish... shit is gonna go down.

Now I just gotta get ready...

1st of all, i cant take credit for how cool this blog layout is. Danny from Assaultech (www.assaultech.com) put it all together for me in about a 1/2 hour (ninja status). Thanks Dan!

Now that that is out of the way, i just wanted to let you guys know that I've finished setting everything up in here (minus some links that i want to add), but here it is.

Feel free to read through the blog completely and comment if you'd like. There's some good videos in the media section and a bunch of good info about me and my car throughout.

Thanks for stopping by,
